Paul J. Posey, Jr. is CEO of Ascension Care Management (ACM). ACM is a subsidiary of Ascension, the largest nonprofit health system in the U.S. and the world's largest Catholic health system. Paul was most recently president of Ascension Risk Services in St. Louis, MO.
As CEO of ACM, Paul’s responsibilities include: collaborating with stakeholders to assess readiness for the movement to value-based contracting; creating a comprehensive plan to improve health services to Ascension associates and their families; empowering healthcare delivery markets to successfully engage in value-based contracting; building a suite of population health services for commercial sale; and organizing the leadership teams, the operational processes and the supporting systems to effectuate the organization’s population health strategies.
As President of ARS, Paul transformed the way the largest nonprofit health system in the country assesses, manages and finances risk, while building commercial products and services to create new revenue and income streams for Ascension. This was through establishing a multi-faceted, enterprise-wide risk strategy which encompasses risk identification, quantification, mitigation and finance, along with protection of human, capital and financial resources, for 175,000 associates serving in 1,900 locations in 26 states and the District of Columbia.
Paul also served as CEO of Canopy Claims Management, LLC, of Orlando, Fla., a start-up company established to provide expert policyholder representation in complex property claim. As CEO he led all aspects of the company and launched operations in New York, Philadelphia and Orlando, soliciting more than 700 customers and $120 million of property claims under management in 2013.
Previously, Paul spent 14 years with Sedgwick Claims Management Services in Memphis, Tenn., most recently as Chief Operating Officer. He was a key leader supporting the growth of Sedgwick from a $100 million revenue company to the industry’s largest claims and productivity management company, with revenues in excess of $1 billion and more than 10,000 employees.
Paul earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Memphis, and both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from Christian Brothers University in Memphis. He is a member of the Memphis and Tennessee Bar Associations, Leadership Membership, and the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
Paul has four children (Hillary, Jacob, Grant and John Michael) and enjoys cycling, swimming, scuba diving and traveling.
